Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy - 1st June 2020
All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and we have missed being able to offer you the treatments that we know you love, and we are looking forward to seeing you again as soon as possible.
Our priority is to keep you as safe as possible, and prior to re-opening the salon, we have implemented a number of changes which we would like to make you aware of. During the time the salon has been shut, we have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course which is accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Ltd, the UK trade body for our industry. We have since made a number of changes in the way that we operate that you will notice when you next visit.
Booking and Attending Appointments
Please book any treatment you can online or over the phone, unfortunately, we will be unable to see anyone who just pops in. You will need to have an appointment so that we know you are coming. You can book a consultation appointment with us online with no charge. If any of our staff feel ill or have symptoms of COVlD-19, they will self-isolate immediately and not come into the salon. This may mean that we have to cancel your appointment at short notice. We appreciate that this may be inconvenient but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is cancelled you will be able to re-book again at your convenience.
If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of C0VlD-19 – please advise us as soon as possible and DO NOT COME TO THE SALON FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT. We have amended our booking terms and conditions and you will not be charged for any appointments which you miss due to Covid-19.
Although we appreciate that symptoms are not always immediately shown as a precaution we will take and register your temperature on arrival - if you have a raised temperature you will be asked to reschedule your appointment. Staff will be asked to record their temperature at the beginning of every shift.
Visiting the Salon
For your safety and to maintain social distancing, we ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are just leaving.
We will no longer provide magazines or hot drinks, water will be available in disposable cups.
Toilet facilities will only be available in absolute emergencies. Please make sure you use the facilities before you arrive for your treatment.
You will have access to soap and hot water to wash your hands with as soon as you enter the salon and we will also have hand sanitiser available for you to use during your visit at the salon. Extra sinks are available in the treatment rooms.
We will understand and not be offended if you wish to wear a facemask or wear disposable gloves when you visit the salon and during your treatment is this is appropriate. Please don’t be surprised or upset if our staff use personal protective equipment (PPE) during your visit and during your treatment. This may include disposable gloves/facemasks/aprons where appropriate.
We can confirm that the laundering of salon towels and uniforms is a priority we can assure you that all salon laundry is washed at 60 degrees. We use an external towel company to provide this service for us.
All disposable items are bagged and safely removed from the treatment area between each client and fully disposed of each day.
Wherever possible we will utilise environmentally, friendly, single-use items during a treatment that will be disposed of safely after use in order to protect you from cross-infection.
We have increased the frequency of cleaning in the salon including making sure that common surfaces, toilets, door handles etc. are wiped clean using disinfectant products between each client and or every hour.
All tools and equipment will be disinfected or sterilised in line with the specific manufacturers’ instructions for your safety.
We will be adding to our already strict cleaning policy. The treatment rooms will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitised at the beginning and end of every day and we will be staggering our appointments to ensure further stringent cleaning measures are undertaken between each client. We have sourced an industrial cleaning product which is proven effective against COVID-19.
We will be dramatically reducing the number of clients we see in any one day and it will be on a 1 in 1 out basis to minimise the contact between people.
We have put together a client declaration form to be completed by all clients when booking appointments. We will send consultation forms online prior to your appointment and they will also be submitted back to us for review via our online system to avoid pen and paper contact.
We have carried out a risk assessment on all treatments and we are confident that we can continue to provide these safely, although some elements of some treatments may be omitted or changed at the therapist’s professional discretion.
During your treatment
Our staff understand the importance of hand hygiene and we will ensure that we wash our hands in according with NHS recommendations before the start of your treatment. We will try to make your treatment as safe, comfortable and enjoyable as possible. If you have any concerns about your treatments please let us know and we will do what we can to satisfy you.
After the treatment
In order to avoid handling of cash, we would prefer if you could pay for your treatment in advance using PayPal or bank transfer (contact us for details). Contactless payments will be taken for small amounts if other online payment methods are unavailable.
If you wish to purchase products please advise us prior to your appointment so we can pick and pack them for you to avoid handling of retail products.
All of these procedures have been implemented for your safety and that of our staff. We will continue to take advice from the Government and the NHS regarding safe practice and will amend them as necessary.
Thank you for your understanding at this difficult time.
