Does chocolate affect your skin – myth or fact?

Does eating chocolate cause mischief on your skin

Mmm chocolate. Easter is finally upon us and as our homes are now packed with chocolatey goodness, such as, crème eggs, Lindt bunnies and all those different yummy Easter Eggs. It’s so hard to choose!

So, with the temptation to eat copious amounts of chocolate for breakfast, lunch and maybe even dinner; (it’s only one day a year after all) the big question on everyone’s minds is will we be waking up on Easter Monday covered in spots and full of regret.

Does chocolate really have a bad effect on our skin?

You’ll probably have heard the rumour that eating chocolate will cause mischief on your skin, however, I’m here to put your worries to rest and tell you, that in fact, scientists have found that it is, in fact, a myth!

Chocolate, itself, isn’t directly the reason for you to break out and it is, in fact, a combination of other factors including those pesky genes and lack of vital nutrients from other foods such as vegetables etc.

Eating a high amount of fatty foods can increase sebum production which can result in increasing your chances of getting acne, however one-day in the entire year to have a chocolate binge shouldn’t have a detrimental effect on your lovely skin.

Therefore, I wish you all a very Happy & Chocolatey Easter!
